Mayor waits till march

Much of the attention following the Walsh decision focused on the mayor of Syracuse and whether he would jump into the race. And, at first, Matt Driscoll spoke of a relatively quick decision. But with Democratic Party committee meetings not due until the spring, Driscoll has extended his timeline.“There's really plenty of time and I intend to take my time, but to listen carefully to people,” said Driscoll. The mayor said he may not be ready to make an announcement until sometime in March.

This is beginning to look more like an ego trip than a serious campaign by Driscoll.

Committee interviews begin on March 1. He could use this delay to side step the designation process and go forward with a Primary. It is unlikely he would get the nomination from the Democrats. It's starting to look like Ryan Magnarelli all over again.
