Fitzpatrick not going to run

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick today announced he will not run for congress this year to replace Jim Walsh in the 25th District. In a two paragraph written statement, Fitzpatrick this morning said he would "remain on the job that has been my life's passion."
Fitzpatrick said he is committed to trying two murder cases this year, and he wanted to see those cases through to completion. He also said he wanted to live up to the commitment he made to his staff."It would be an incredible opportunity to represent the people of Central New York in the Congress of the United States," he wrote. "To fight for their interests on issues as diverse as economic opportunity, health care, securing our borders, fighting terrorism, and so on, would be the dream of a lifetime."

Fitzpatrick also announced he would have no further comment out of respect for other candidates who may wish to run for the congressional seat.
"I sincerely wish them well and remind them that they are seeking to fill some very large shoes," he wrote.
