Cappuccilli's In

Here:

Former State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli plans to announce this afternoon he will run for the 25th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. James Walsh.

In a letter mailed this week to more than 1,000 Republican Party committeemen, Cappuccilli asked them to consider supporting his campaign.

Cappuccilli, 57, of Geddes, who ran the fair for 10 years, will be the first Republican to enter the race.

Randy Wolken, president of the Manufacturers Association of Central New York, will likely become the second Republican to enter when he makes an announcement in the coming week. Wolken delivered a letter to party leaders last week expressing his interest in running for the position.

Another interesting part:

Hoffmann, a farmer who remains active in civil rights issues, said she has received several calls from party leaders asking her to consider a run for the vacant seat.

"It seems like a lot of people have been picking up the phone and calling and talking to me while I'm wandering around the far reaches of Central New York," Hoffmann said. "It's a good thing to hear, and I'm going to give it a look."

Does anyone really people party leaders are calling her to ask her to run? I'm not sure she can distinguish "party leaders" from the voices in her head.

Do you have a copy of the letter the sawed off little runt sent out?

I've known Peter for years - definitely has a bad case of short man's disease.
