Paloma Capana Running for State Senate

So Paloma is not planning another run for Congress, instead she has shifted her focus onto State Senator Mike Nozzolio. It's going to be a tough race, but the Democrats taking over control of the State Senate is key to the upcoming round of redistricting. Also Nozzolio, who has been chronically unchallenged, represents Wayne County, which saved Walsh from being kicked out of office. Challenging Nozzolio will help bring more Democrats out in Wayne County and could spell trouble for Walsh.

Nozzolio was nice enough to kick off the campaign with Jim Walsh style arrogance:
The election “is a full 18 months away,” said Nozzolio, who seemed upset the interview strayed from the topic of the grant. “You ambushed me on this,” he added. “I am totally unprepared” to talk about it.

Does anyone have an idea of what competition for the Dem primary there may be? What is up with both Driscoll and Miner backing out of a county exec race? Are they related to the 25th race?

I wouldn't bet on a primary and I'm not hearing anything that would suggest one. No one besides Dan Maffei could really afford to announce before the County Executive's race. Dan can tap into a national donor base while the local donor base is being sapped by the CE race. Anyone else who plans on running won't announce until at least December and they will be trailing Dan in money and organization.

The only thing Nozzolio is prepared to talk about are his unrelenting attacks on any office holder who has a "D" affiliation. He wastes his constituents time with easy, partisan rants that do not solve problems and offer neither information or enlightenment.

Here he blames the reporter for daring to ask a question. Poor Mike! Unprepared for competition!

Unprepared, Ms. Capana? I read Senator Nozzolio has more than $500,000 in the bank and more than 700 contributors. The Senator just saved my local hospital and will win in a rout. Please don't let our disappointment in Walsh dropping out get in the way of reality. If Ms. Capana wants to win a race she should run for the open Assembly seat in Rochester being vacated by David Koon. Nobody in Cayuga County has ever heard of her.
