Walsh Raising Money Like Someone Retiring

The end of the year FEC reports are out and Jim Walsh's bank account is thin. Walsh has just $72,000 cash on hand, going into 05 Walsh had over $400K on hand. Having won with just 51% and blood in the water, you'd think that if he was running for re-election Walsh would be padding his bank account to scare off potential challengers.

Walsh has never been a great fundraiser, the prospect of another competitive expensive race must have him thinking. This time he doesn't start out with the benefit of excess funds from an uncontested election plus he is no longer a spending cardinal and he is no longer a member of the majority, both of which will make fundraising more difficult than last time.

Ultimately it comes down to two things, if Walsh's ego can take another tough election of his record being exposed and if he has the stomach to raise the money necessary to win. At this point, on both accounts, all signs point to Walsh taking a pass at re-election.

Thanks for keeping on top of this. Hopefully he'll step out and the Republicans will be too busy with their other races to replace him. I doubt that'll be the case though. I think he's going to run again.

I am sure you will post the article here and add your take but it wasn't up yet so I put it here where it most likely makes no sense.
