Walsh and Iraq

Just a few days, ago Walsh stated his position on Iraq:

I think what we should do is what we are doing. We're training the Iraqi soldiers, and police, and border security, to take over their own security. And slowly but surely we're handing over the entire country back to the Iraqis, to take care of their own security, and when that job is complete we should leave. And it is moving in the right direction.

Since then, Suni's in Western Iraq have declared an independant country, close to two score or more American soldiers have died, a Shiite city has been taken over, and the US Army have declared the Baghdad operation a failure.

Two thoughts:

1. Walsh's position is grotesque. The most he could say in the debate is the Iraqis "need to have a debate" about Americans in Iraq. Other then that, stay the course. Either Walsh is a fool, or he thinks we are, or he doesn't read the newspapers. And Walsh's campaign website does not even mention Iraq.

2. Its crazy for him to demand of Dan Maffei a "solution" with "specifics". Jim baker, the Congress, and everyone else is stuck on this problem. Nobody has a specific solution. But of the two contenders, Dan Maffei identifies the problem and recomends a change in strategy.

The problem with Iraq is we have an irresponsible and reckless President, and an irresponsible and reckless Congress that supports him.

It's time to fix that, pronto.
