Post endorses McHugh..

Monday, the Post endorsed the Democrat ticket for the 24th district. Part of their rationality was that "it's time to send a Democrat to Congress from the 24th District to help rein in an administration that has had its unquestioned way for too long. The Post-Standard enthusiastically endorses Michael Arcuri."

Perhaps there is another set of editorial writers working today. Because that argument has been dropped in their endoresement of McHugh. Given the huge issues at stake, it is vulgar to see pork trotted out as one of the main arguments to vote for the man: "if Democrats took over, he would lose clout, not seniority."

So the Post is intellectually inconsistent. Hyproctritical. They give one argument Monday, and then drop that argument the next. Monday's rationality would favor Maffei, Tuesdays would favor Walsh.

And so where are they going with this? Given their poorly thought out arguments, its impossible to predict. You may as well role the dice. And given the disinterested and lazy rationality ("pork...") for the Tuesday endorsement, I doubt their arguments are going to be very compelling.

Scanning the LTEs today, I noticed that there is more equality between the pro-Walsh and pro-Maffei letters. More so than in the past.

I don't know if that necessarily means anything, but I view it as a positive sign.

But I always try to be optimistic, so... :)

Look at it this way: Maybe by endorsing McHugh, they can endorse Maffei and then point to their endorsement of McHugh and say "See? We're balanced!"

The paper is going to endorse Walsh. Period - just move on and win the election.
