Walsh votes for Bush's Detainee Interogation

Habeas Corpus is "a judicial mandate to a prison official ordering that an inmate be brought to the court so it can be determined whether or not that person is imprisoned lawfully and whether or not he should be released from custody."

Today,
walsh voted with Bush on the Detainee Interrogation Bill. The bill was watered down slighly to apease John McCain, but still denies terrorist suspects the right to habeus corpus.

Just 3 hours north of Syracuse- 193 miles away- a Canadian man was kidnapped by the USA and sent to Syria. The software engineer was not a terrorist and there was no evidence against him. In Syria, he was tortured. The man had no rights, he had no habeas corpus, he simply disapeared.

This is what Walsh voted for today- to give Bush the legal authority to debase the United States.

All the bombs in the world cannot destroy who we are, only we can destory who we are by letting go of the ideals that once made this country great. What a victory for the terrorists- they are succeeding in remaking America into a petty authoritarian state.

What a pathetic day for Jim Walsh.
