Waa Waa Walsh

Jim cries and lies again:

The new TV spot blasts Walsh for acceptancing campaign donations from oil companies and voting to lower oil industry taxes while voting against some minimum-wage legislation and voting for a congressional pay increase.

Lawyers for the Walsh campaign lost no time asking local stations to pull the spots for being misleading and inaccurate. Walsh has said he voted in favor of the only real minimum wage bill that came before him and never actually voted to increase congressional pay, which he described as an automatic cost of living adjustment.

Last week, WSYR television, Channel 9, was the only station that agreed to stop airing the ads. Monday, after carefully reviewing supporting documentation from both sides, the station decided to continue running the spots because they contained no proven inaccuracies, said WSYR general manager Theresa Underwood.

I guess Walsh's cries and lies weren't enough to bully WIMP from airing ads this time.

PS. I suspect we will be seeing more from Majority Action... just a hunch.

Didn't Dan work for Channel 9 news at some point in his career? ;-)

To all those who emailed or otherwise contacted channel 9 to protest their decision- who knows if your efferts had anything to do with it - but thanks! hoo-rah!

Last night during Boston Legal on WSYR I saw both the Majority Action minimum wage ad and Maffei's own ad. So perhaps the complaints had an effect.
