Rochester D & C Coverage

Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, on Thursday stumped for congressional candidates in upstate New York and raised about $35,000 for two Rochester-area hopefuls.

Emanuel, who is steering Democratic efforts to try to take control of the House in November, held a luncheon fundraiser for Democrat Daniel Maffei in Syracuse and an afternoon fundraiser for Democrat Eric Massa in Brighton.

Emanuel said upstate New York is a prime region for Democrats to beat longtime Republican incumbents. Maffei is seeking the Democratic nomination against party foe Paloma Capanna in a September primary; the winner will face Rep. James Walsh, R-Onondaga, on Election Day, Nov. 7.

Massa is challenging Rep. Randy Kuhl, R-Hammondsport, Steuben County.

"All of upstate New York has a sense that this country has to get in another direction," Emanuel said.

Any serious coverage of this by the Sub-Standard yet? Amazing how that paper will protect Walsh at any cost.

No. I was told that the Sub-Standard did a lengthy interview with Dan and Rahm, but they never did an article on it.
