We've Got Numbers!

FEC Reports have been filed:
  • Dan Maffei raised approx. $100,000. He spent approx. 30,000 and has approx. $175,000 on hand.
  • Paloma Capanna raised approx. $90,000. She spent approx. $25,000 and has approx. $89,000 on hand.

Good numbers posted by both candidates, still trailing Jimbo, but those numbers have to be giving Jimbo so heartburn.

Update

Jimbo has raised the 2nd lowest amount among the Republican Incumbents running for re-election in New York (Boehlert actually outraised him too), and has the 3rd lowest amount of Cash on Hand among the Republican Incumbents running for re-election.

Hmmm... there seems to be a big distinction here: Paloma "raised" 76,000 of that from a personal loan to her own campaign.

It's true, she did, but it all spends the same. I don't know how much she is worth, but it's possible she could fund her whole run out of pocket.

Hey Watcher, nice blog. Great stuff. I see that you said you don't know how much Capanna is worth -- every candidate has already had to file a financial disclosure report with the House of Reps and it looks like she's just about tapped out with the $76,000 she loaned herself. Her current husband reportedly has some money, but he can't give it to her (looks like he maxed out already) and if he loans it to her it would open up all kinds of problems for her campaign. Like the fact he was indicted by New York prosecutors for asbestos abatement problems about ten years ago. And, until last September, she was a registered Republican just like her husband.

I think people need to know that her operation is not all purity and light. Or poetry and light.

Walsh is a serious guy, and if we want to beat him we need to put the best candidate with the best network - local and national - up against him. This is too important to play around with.

Capanna has yet to

Sorry - hit enter before I finished...

Capanna has yet to show that she can put together the type of coalition and list of supporters it will take to beat Walsh. Maffei has.
