Paloma Steps It Up

Paloma Capanna is starting to play like a candidate who wants to win.

In the last few days, she's really been on offense:

This is what I like to see, keep it up!

Why do you keep encouraging Paloma? Because she has a website and calls herself a candidate? She raised 20K as of last report. That is less than Jimbo makes each day. At least Maffei is taking that part seriously. You can't beat Jimbo without money and you can't beat him with a divided party. Time to get behind one person now, not force this thing into a primary. Sorry Paloma doesn't see this.

Fully Agree and really would like to see what the watchers reply is to your comment. Money wins or at least gives you a chance. Capanna doesn't have it and can't raise enough. 100k in a month is congress. 20k is town council.

Well, I'd like to see the strongest candidate possibe out there against Walsh. While I don't care to see a destructive primary campaign where we eat our own, I think there's time for both to get their message out, and maybe even have joint town meetings, where people can see and hear what they have to say. Let's get them tested a bit before the real campaign, and let's get some news coverage, too. Walsh will hide unless and until he feels some pressure, so why not take adavantage while he's in his hidey-hole, and let voters see that either of these two would be a vast improvement over what we have now?

I don't live in this district, but what the hell. I see both of your point about unity, becuase that is really important that in every district in this state that Democrats be unified behind one candidate and that the democratic machinery works together toward the election of that individual. However, I would suggest to you that the next campaign finance report will be the one that really matters becuase by the time a report is filled at the end of June it may be too late to grab the eye of the DCCC. Thus, if it is clear that come March 31 Capanna has nothing close to Maffei than the continuation of a primary is useless. It will be necessary for candidates in both this district and the 24th to start running for the general election in July or at the latest August. Focusing on a primary and losing all of those months of focusing on the general will really hurt our chances. Especially in the 24th CD if Boehlert retires and Jim Seward and Ray Meier proceed to beat the hell out of eachother for the nomination. If that happens we must drop the primary and support one candidate so that we have a head start on the GOP candidate

Maffei having a fundraiser hosted by DCCC chair make me think he is on their RADAR.
