Walsh Watching Walsh Watcher

Jim spent the last year hiding his legislative agenda from the people by linking to his legislation from the 2003-2004 session of Congress. On the 15th, I called out Mr. Walsh for this. About a week, and numerous visits to my site from IP addresses tracing back to the House of Representatives and Jim has updated his site with the proper link. Better late than never.

You should be proud. It appears you've already made some difference. Now you know that they're aware of you.

I like the idea of this blog.
I grew up in CNY, but now live in Silicon Valley. I have followed local politics quite closely.

From what I have heard, Jim Walsh’s reputation in Washington is that of a cheap political prostitute. He sells out the interests of CNY on the cheap for little more than token recognition. That is why they put him on the appropriations committee. Unlike some other representatives that need to be bought off with "bridges to nowhere", Jim Walsh comes almost for free.

Your post illustrates Walsh's weakness vividly. He sponsored only 7 bills in 2005. And what economic impact did these 7 bills bring to CNY? Check them out. The first was "Congratulating the United States Men's National Soccer Team on qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup." The second was "Expressing support for the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 as the blueprint for lasting peace in Northern Ireland." The rest are more of the same lameness. Also notice how few co-sponsors he get for his bills. It is common to have scores or hundreds of co-sponsors for serious legislators. And only one of Walsh's bills made it out of committee.

I would love to see an accounting of the money that CNY taxpayers send to Washington and see that compared to the amount of federal spending that comes back to NY's 25th district.

I'd be willing to bet a million dollars that CNY-ers are getting the short end of the stick.

The ironic thing about Jim Walsh is that some people actually think that he "brings home the bacon."

I wonder how surprised and mad they would be to find out the truth.

He should be replaced with someone who would really fight for CNY.
